The GWDG (the Society for Scientific Data Processing in Göttingen) monitors the whole IT Infrastructure of the Max Planck Society and the University of Göttingen with openITCOCKPIT.
To ensure this principle was also applied to its IT monitoring, the GWDG needed a sustainable solution that encompassed the entire infrastructure, in particular ESX, storage and network equipment, and consolidated all parts of the infrastructure into a centralised system.
Eric Helmvoigt, who is working on this project at GWDG, says: „We decided to go with openITCOCKPIT from it-novum, because their solution and their specialists provide the flexibility we both desire and need to fully and individually implement our special requirements. Also, it-novum‘s solid reputation in system management was pivotal in our decision-making process“. In contrast to the systems used for implementing the project (Nagios and What‘s Up Gold), the entire IT infrastructure was to be monitored and thus consolidated into one central system using openITCOCKPIT.
