A Sales Dashboard with Pentaho CTools

Managers and other decision makers in sales need information in a highly aggregated form so that they can make the right decisions. A sales dashboard displays sales and customer data in a brief, but comprehensive form, so that changes can be quickly detected (e.g. for closing rates). To achieve this, however, the data must be processed and arranged in a sensible way.

In this white paper, we will describe how to build a professional and easy-to-understand dashboard for a company sales department drawing on SAP data. In the process, we will be relying on several open source technologies. For staging, ETL (Extract - Transform - Load) and data warehousing, we will be using the Pentaho business intelligence suite. CTools (Community Tools) are open source extensions from Pentaho designed to simplify the creation of data visualizations.
